Pickens County - Churches
In the fall of 1802, Francis Asbury was on his way to conferences in Camden and Charleston and stopped in the area known as “The Trap”. This was historically a trading post on an old Indian road that ran from Virginia to Georgia. He conducted two services, one on Saturday and another on Sunday. This circuit became known as the Bush River Circuit. Three riders were appointed to travel and preach the gospel. Services were held at West’s Schoolhouse, where Forestville Church now stands.
In 1844 discord within the membership caused a split in the church. (http://churches.umcsc.org/easley/dacusville/)
